Professional Services

Hourly rates apply to specific services, and typically include:

• Property Management and Maintenance. This is our primary focus for individual clients on the the island. We pay attention to each client's home and respond as needed to weather-related events or client requests. To learn more about what's involved, click here.
• Construction. Building new structures, remodeling and repairs, etc. From decks to guest houses, fencing, barns or trellises, we have experience in high-quality traditional and timber framing, modular, structural insulated panels (SIPs) and other techniques. • Welding. Some projects demand basic welding techniques, and some call for more artistic flair. Living on an island means that when a machine or part fails, we best know how to repair it. Either way, we've got it covered.
• Excavation. This can include road/driveway grading, trenching for plumbing, electrical, drainage, or other landscaping work to cut, fill or level terrain.
• Tree/brush management. We plant, prune, remove and thin trees and other vegetation.
• Mowing. Whether lawn or meadow, we can establish a maintenance strategy for firebreak, pest management or aesthetic purposes.
• Managing to reduce pests. Besides mowing and landscape design, we can recommend additional services for routine management or before special outdoor events. More on 'Preventing Ticks in the Yard.'
• Vehicle maintenance and shuttles. Many clients are off-island for extended periods. We can schedule vehicles for regular short trips to ensure they are in good operating condition when you need them, and position vehicles on request to simplify client travel to and from the island. We perform some minor repairs on vehicles or work with local mechanics as needed.
• Painting and finishing. We offer professional interior and exterior painting for any surface, and are knowledgable about treatments to address the specific weather demands of the island climate, and the best way to preserve the appearance of traditional interior flat work and trim.
• Procurement. Time on the island—and extensive relationships with vendors and trade professionals—help with locating the best source for any product or service efficiently. We buy locally to support the island economy where possible, and order when necessary.
• Road and driveway grading. Besides grading main Chappy roads, we also offer private road or driveway maintenance on request and weather permitting.
